Participating in the tournament were students from schools belonging to the Catholic Forensic Leagues of New York State, other Tri-State Catholic schools and some New York public schools including the prestigious Bronx High School of Science, Stuyvesant High School, and Brooklyn Technical High School.
The tournament is comprised of competitions in Oral Interpretation, Original Oratory, Declamation,

literature and outperformed 115 students to take the top honors. For two poetry
rounds of competition, Ms. Gordon chose the poem “My Friend Got This Problem,
Mr. Candler” by Mel Glenn which depicts various teenage issues while for the two
prose rounds, which required participants to interpret a selection from a piece
of literature and bring it to life, she chose selections from the novel, The
Broke Diaries.
The Chaminade Invitational is the second major tournament win for Ms. Gordon who now qualifies
for the New York State Championships in Albany on April 4-5. Other members of
the Nazareth Forensic Team are also expected to qualify for the state
championships; the team will also compete at the National level on Memorial Day
weekend in Greenbat, Wisconsin.
Upon graduation, Ms. Gordon hopes to attend an Ivy League college where she plans to pursue a career in journalism and nursing.
